Most Popular Costumes

With Halloween only hours away, last minute shoppers are scrambling to find the perfect costume, but the most popular ones are going fast.

Manager of the Penticton Wal-mart, Murray Mandzak, says a definite theme has appeared this year in terms of costume sales.

“The most popular costume by request has been anything having to do with Pirates of the Caribbean. It has been our biggest seller,” says Mandzak.

He says that besides the pirate costumes, people have been going for the traditional outfits.

“Ghosts and goblins are popular and it's been a very big year for Dracula as well,” says Mandzak.

He says that many people have been leaving it to the last minute to buy a costume, and as a result, may not get what they wanted.

“Due to the popularity of the pirates, we ordered more, but even so we were surprised by the demand for them and we are almost sold out,” says Mandzak.

Parents, like Clare Sommerson says planning ahead is the trick.

“I bought my son's pirate costume as soon as they were on sale. I knew they would go fast because all the kids want to be Captain Jack this year. I just hope it will still fit him next year so I don't have to go through all this again when the next movie comes out,” says Sommerson.
