Skateboard Park Problems

Osoyoos RCMP are spending more time at the skateboard park.

The International Curling Club of Osoyoos says it's tired of dealing with broken windows and other destructive acts that have been on the increase since the opening of the adjacent skateboard park.

The curling club says the vandalism is the work of just a few individuals.
It's not calling for any drastic measures such as closing the park, but says it's tired of having to clean up the mess caused by a few.

Since the skateboard park opened 10 months ago, the curling club has had its windows broken and cooling pipes ripped out.

Councilor Dick Flintoff says if the vandalism continues, City Council will consider shutting down the park.

Town officials say a meeting will be called in the near future between all groups involved.

In the meantime, RCMP have increased their patrols of the area.
