Fatal crash victim identified

The male motorcyclist who died in a crash on Highway 97 last weekend near Oliver has been identified as a dentist who lives in the U.K., according to a British news outlet.

Sixty-four year old Paul Knight is labelled as a "popular dentist" from Wigton, U.K., who was "well known in the town and beyond," according to the News and Star.

Paul was riding with his wife, Michelle, the news outlet said, when the three-vehicle accident occurred at about 2:45 p.m.

Police believe a northbound vehicle crossed the centre line and side-swiped a southbound vehicle, before crashing head-on with the southbound motorcycle.

Both Paul and Michelle were airlifted to Kelowna General Hospital after the crash. Paul succumbed to his injuries, while Michelle reportedly remains in hospital in stable condition.

South Okanagan Traffic Services didn't comment on the motorcyclist's identity, but said they are continuing to investigate the nature of the crash.
