Crash possibly fatal

A crash Saturday afternoon on Highway 97 between Oliver and Osoyoos may have been fatal.

It's believed the collision involved a car and a motorcycle. And while it's unclear how many people were involved, it's believed two people were airlifted to Kelowna General Hospital.

RCMP are reportedly leading an investigation into the crash. 

Highway 97 was closed off between Road 9 and Road 18 for more than five hours as a result of the incident.

Highway 97 has reopened between Oliver and Osoyoos, DriveBC reports, following a crash that led to a closure for more than five hours.

The highway was blocked off between Road 9 and Road 18 as a result of the crash that happened at about 3:15 p.m.

Details on the crash have not been confirmed, but it is believed to have involved a car and a motorcycle.

Highway 97 is currently closed in both directions four kilometres south of Oliver due to a collision, according to DriveBC.

Southbound traffic is able to use Road 9 as a detour, and northbound traffic can use Road 18. DriveBC is advising motorists to expect delays through the area.

Details on the nature of the crash are not yet known, and there's no estimate on when the highway will reopen.
