A Lower Mainland man is in stable condition after crashing his dirt bike on the KVR trail near Tulameen, Princeton RCMP said.
The incident happened on Tuesday, about 35 kilometres north of the tiny community, when the 32-year-old rider approached a section of the KVR that was washed out from the spring snow melt, according to Cpl. Chad Parsons.
The accident happened just before the washed out section, Parsons said. The crash victim was then air lifted to Kamloops General Hospital.
Parsons noted no other crashes have occurred on that section of the KVR, despite washout conditions.
The crash was attributed to unfamiliarity with the trail, as dangerous driving and intoxication were not factors.
The victim was properly equipped with a helmet, boots and body armour, and Parsons said his gear probably reduced the severity of the incident.
Two dirt bikers have died as a result of crashed in the Tulameen area this year.
A 26-year-old Kamloops man was killed on Canada Day long weekend after losing control on Coalmont Road. On May long weekend, a 24-year-old Surrey man died after his dirt bike plunged into Otter Lake, also off of Coalmont Road.
