Kittens seeking cuddles

Chelsea Powrie

Several kittens at the Critteraid animal shelter in Summerland are seeking forever homes, but in the meantime, they also need cuddles.

Animal director Jess Byer said the group of four kittens came to the shelter after their mother, who is also at Critteraid now, was found pregnant in a man's front yard.

"He tried to keep them and look after them for a while, but a difficulty was re-homing them," Byer said. "A lot of people like kittens but they forget the cost that goes into them."

Critteraid has vaccinated, spayed and neutered the kitties. But Byer hopes potential adopters will remember what a commitment they are making.

"We know that they're adorable, but do remember they're an 18--year commitment," Byer said, "So make sure you're really ready."

If you aren't in a position to adopt but need a fix of cat snuggles, Byer hopes you'll come to the shelter and volunteer. The kittens need socializing and playtime.
