The South Okanagan and Similkameen could be in for a severe thunderstorm beginning Friday afternoon, officials are advising.
Environment Canada issued a notice for a severe thunderstorm watch late Friday morning, noting that heavy rainfall and strong wind gusts could be in the forecast.
The notice also notes that "intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads."
The same warning is also in place for the Nicola, Fraser Canyon, Fraser Valley, Chilcotin and Whistler areas.
