Oliver-area fire controlled

A wildfire that broke out Monday evening near Oliver is being contained.

Twenty-six BC Wildfire firefighters and two pieces of heavy machinery are on the scene of the now 5.1-hectare blaze, nine kilometres east of Oliver.

The Wolfcub Creek fire has now been classified as "held," a term from a Canada-wide classification system.

"That just means the fire is not likely to spread beyond its pre-determined boundaries, just because we're not anticipating growth because of weather and suppression tactics," said Marla Catherall, fire information officer with BC Wildfire.

No homes are under threat from the fire.
