Motorcyclist hit head-on

A motorcyclist was transported to hospital, reportedly with serious injuries, after a head-on collision on the Crowsnest Highway at Anarchist Mountain, just east of Osoyoos.

Grant Grasby is a tow truck driver in Osoyoos and said he witnessed the collision unfold at about 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Grasby said he was travelling westbound when an older man in a Ford sedan passed him at a hairpin curve, just west of the Anarchist viewpoint.

He said the sedan was about five feet past the road's centre line at the curve, resulting in the head-on crash with a middle-aged female motorcyclist.

"I saw the motorcycle coming down and I had my windows down, and all I could hear was 'oh no,' and then she got hit head on."

He added speed wasn't a factor in the crash from his view, but rather a lack of attention.

The full extent of the motorcyclist's injuries is not known.

The section of the highway was reportedly closed for nearly half an hour after the incident.
