Free motorcycle skill course

Motorcyclists can hone their craft for free this weekend at an educational event aimed at teaching skills to avoid common causes of motorcycle crashes.

South Okanagan Traffic Services is presenting the event on Sunday, May 20 in the Moduline parking lot at 1175 Railway Street. There will be a skills course set up for riders to navigate, and instructors from ICBC's motorcycle program on hand to coach.

Organizer Dave Cramm will be doing a brief presentation on what's causing the majority of crashes in the South Okanagan.

"Hopefully by the end of the session people will walk away with all that information," Cramm said.

The skills course will be timed, and Cramm hopes people will see improvement in their times throughout the event. The person most improved will receive a prize from ICBC.

"We're not competing with other people," Cramm said. "It's more or less competing with yourself. The goal is to improve the skills."

Motorcyclists can drop in to the event anytime Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
