Up close concert experience

A new music venture at Penticton's Orchard House Theatre will provide visitors with an intimate concert experience 

The "Up Close and Personal" performance series at the theatre in downtown Penticton begins on May 18, and the theatre has announced Wild T and the Spirit as its inaugural act for the series.

The band from Toronto has performed internationally for nearly three decades, and has shared the stage groups including Bon Jovi, Deep Purple and Grand Funk Railroad among others.  

"This power trio will rock the house by mixing the blues, rock, funk and reggae that will surely fill the dance floor," Dan Gusztak with the theatre said in a news release. 

The theatre said the purpose of the series is to showcase musical acts in an intimate setting, adding that the venue which holds 160 people is "ideal" for concerts of this type. 

The Yard Katz will be opening for inaugural show — a local classic rock and blues band that plays monthly at the theatre.

Doors open at 7 p.m. for the show on May 18. Tickets are available at The Grooveyard, located at 239 Main Street in Penticton.
