Renter sought after fire

UPDATE: 12:20 p.m.

RCMP are looking for the owner of the Oliver trailer that burned down Monday night.

The mobile home, located on Ryegrass Road just south of town, was empty when the Oliver Fire Department arrived to giant flames.

The fire is believed to have begun in the kitchen of the home.

RCMP are seeking current renter Dale Watts, 38, who had been living in the area since September. He has no phone or vehicle.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the RCMP Detachment.

ORIGINAL: 8:46 a.m.

An Oliver mobile home was completely destroyed by fire Monday night.

Fire crews responded to a report at around 7:50 p.m., sending two pumper trucks and a water tender. When they arrived, they fought from the exterior because the inside was already full of flames.

"Nobody nearby could make clear whether anyone was home at the time, which is why firefighters conducted a search when the flames were more under control," Fire Department spokesperson Rob Graham said. "Nobody was found."

There is no known cause for the fire yet.

"Because of the time of the report the fire was so intense, crews weren't able to really do a search of the home that way to find out what the cause was," Graham said.

A follow-up investigation as to the fire's origin will take place with fire officials and RCMP. Police were on the scene after fire crews moved out.

Graham did not know whether the homeowner has been located or informed.
