New British pub downtown

Penticton's downtown will have a flair of Britain when a new British-themed pub opens sometime this month.

The establishment will be on Nanaimo Avenue East — the former home of the Casablanca Greek restaurant.

Owner Martyn Lewis, who moved from Liverpool to Penticton eight years ago, said he's hoping to open up around Apr. 13, which would fall in line with the first day of Fest of Ale.

Lewis said all the licensing is complete and he's in the process of completing expensive renovations to the building.

He added the pub has a name but it's a secret for now, and he will reveal it on the opening day. A opening date will be confirmed soon, he said.

As Lewis continues to set up operations, he has put a call out to hire cooks, bartenders and servers. Those interested can apply at [email protected]

Lewis also owns and operates a wine tour company in the South Okanagan called Coconut Express.
