
A section of Myers Road in the Willowbrook area will be removed in an effort to reduce the flooding in the area.
Willowbrook Fire Department and the Ministry of Transportation will have crews in the area today.
"This will increase the flow along Kearns Creek being restricted by a road culvert."
A press release from the regional district states that the work will result in a continued road closure near the corner of Myers Rd. and Johnson Crescent. Alternate routes are available.
"Once the work on Myers Rd. is complete, the Willowbrook Fire
Deartment, with the support of the RDOS, will be installing and maintaining a water pump across Carr Crescent to increase the flow of water."
That work will allow Carr Cresent to remain intact while a large pool affecting Willowbrook is decreased.
The Kearns Creek dam, above Willowbrook, has seen a decrease in water levels but is still being managed closely.
Sandbags are available to property owners at a number of locations throughout the Okanagan and Similkameen.
