Shelter upgrades needed

Chelsea Powrie

Summerland's Critteraid animal sanctuary is seeking skilled volunteers who want to help with renovations at the shelter.

"Part of our mandate is to make sure the animals are always looked after in health care, but a big part of that is making sure the building they live in is also up to date and up to code," said Jess Byer, animal director.

They are looking to upgrade a room for cats with behavioural issues, as well as doing upgrades to outdoor enclosures, especially coming up to springtime.

Byer stressed that no amount of money or time is too small for a person to donate. A few hours of work or a couple of dollars will help make a difference to the animals.

"$5 can go a long way, a cup of coffee for you could mean a new piece of drywall for us," Byer said.

Those interested in helping out can visit Critteraid's website and fill out a volunteer application form.
