Burn pile sparks grass fire

The Oliver Fire Department is in process of mopping up a grass fire sparked by an out-of-control open burn.
Department spokesman Rob Graham says this is their second call out in the past few days for a burn pile that got away from the property owner.
“We had some cold and stormy weather, but this would indicate it is still relatively dry at least on the surface,” he said.
Firefighters were called to the property on Island Road shortly after 2 p.m. and were able to contain the fire and stop its spread to any structures.
