The City of Penticton is putting a downtown piece of real estate up for sale.
The city has recently received an unsolicited offer for 199 Ellis St., according to a disclosure document in Tuesday’s council agenda.
City staff have determined the proposal is not in line with the community’s priorities, but city council is interested in seeing what other developers will propose and have issued an formal expression of interest.
The discussions between staff and council on the proposal were made behind closed doors due to the confidential nature of the offer.
Under the city’s new land disposition policy, responses to the expression of interest will be presented to council, when they may decide to enter negotiations with one or more of the proponents.
At that point, the proposal will be brought to the public for consultation to help determine if the property should be sold.
199 Ellis St. is currently occupied by the FitKidz Gymnastics Club.
