Murder probe continues

Despite the death of their first suspect, police in Penticton say they are continuing to investigate the murder of Dale Atkinson.

As originally reported by Castanet News on Monday, RCMP spokesmen Cpl. Dan Moskaluk confirmed Thursday that Atkinson’s common-law wife died Feb. 18 near Edmonton.

The woman, identified by Atkinson’s friends as Kelly Boyda, was arrested immediately after his murder but was released without charge. She moved away from Penticton after the incident.

Atkinson, 63, was stabbed to death last June at the home on Woodlands Drive he shared with Boyda.

Although police said little about the case publicly, Atkinson’s friends say they were working to have charges approved in relation to his death.

"RCMP investigators have recently updated the family of homicide victim Dale Atkinson," Cpl. Dan Moskaluk said in his statement.

Atkinson was a respected car salesmen and longtime resident of Penticton.
