Dads, daughters dance away

A special event for dads and daughters will take place in Penticton this weekend.

A dance and date night for daughters and fathers — or father figures — called the Snowflake Ball will happen on Sunday.

Tessa Marr, media coordinator for the event, said the girls get to "get all dolled up" and enjoy dancing, dinner and prizes.

"The idea is that every girl and every 'dad' gets to have the same experience — regardless of their family situation, how much money the family makes," Marr said.

"(Organizers) worked hard to keep costs really low and make every girl attending feel equally as special."

The event debuted last year and sold out according to organizers, drawing close to a hundred father and daughter combos.

Sunday's event goes from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Penticton Seniors Drop-in Society, located at 2965 South Main Street.

Tickets for two are $35, and $5 for each additional daughter. Further information can be found on the event's Facebook page here.
