Radio marathon for change

For the fourth year in a row, Penticton community radio station CFUZ will broadcast a nationwide radio event in solidarity with homeless and under-housed Canadians.

The Homeless Marathon is hosted by the University of New Brunswick's student radio station in Saint John, and is broadcast by campus and community stations across the nation with an aim to shed a light on housing crises facing Canadian communities.

CFUZ will include local voices in their broadcast, speaking to issues unique to Penticton, including:

  • Paula Jacobs-St. Germaine - Mental Health and Addiction, Ooknakane Friendship Centre
  • James Cunningham - Operation Manager, (PACE) Penticton & Area Cooperative Enterprises
  • David Desautel - Legal Advocate, Access Centre
  • Ken Jones - Program Director, Discovery House
  • Gwen Wain - SOWINS  (mobile outreach program)
  • Lauraine Bailie - Vice President, Soupetaria

The full broadcast will begin at 7 a.m. on Feb. 22 and will run for 15 hours, and the local CFUZ portion of the event will begin at 7:30 p.m. Listeners can tune in online at cfuz.ca.
