Meet adoptable puppies

Chelsea Powrie

A litter of rescue puppies will be visiting PetSmart in Penticton on Saturday, where people can play with them and get more information on how to adopt one.

The puppies, which are eight weeks old, are pit bull, mastiff and shepherd mixes, and were surrendered by their owner to the animal rescue society Critteraid.

"There will be a bit of a waiting list, but they are spayed and neutered, shots up to date," said Jess Byer, animal director at Critteraid. "If anyone is interested, they can come on down!"

Byer said that because they are mixed breed dogs, they are very intelligent.

"They would be great first-time puppies," Byer said. "They just need some work, but all pups do."

The litter visited PetSmart earlier this week as well, and staff member Ashley couldn't believe her luck.

"What else is there to say except 'Oh my god!' We never have puppies," Ashley said. "This is puppy heaven. We're loving it, we're not really getting much work done."

The adoption event runs 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Penticton PetSmart on Saturday, Feb. 17.
