Luring child with beer

A Penticton mother is outraged after she says a man tried to lure her daughter to his house with the promise of beer.

The mother, who contacted Castanet News late Monday afternoon, said her nine-year-old daughter was walking home from Queen's Park Elementary school when the man approached her.

She said the man asked her daughter if she wanted to follow him to his house and drink some beer.

Mom says the girl ignored the man and kept walking. The man apparently did not follow her.

Police and the school have been notified.

The suspect is described as being in his mid to late 20s with pale skin. He was wearing blue jeans and a long sleeve black shirt, and carrying a black milk crate.

The mother said she wants people to know what kind of people are out there and heads up!
