An SUV that had a small dog inside of it was stolen from an Oliver gas station on Sunday.

Hazel Ladhar had just parked her vehicle at the Chevron gas station located at Main Street and Co-Op Avenue at about 5:15 a.m.

“Her phone and everything was in the vehicle,” said Grace Van Hove, who is a friend of Ladhar.

She was inside the gas station delivering newspapers when the cashier alerted her that someone was driving away in her 2001 black Honda CR-V.

“She turned around and her car was driving away,” said Van Hove.

Const. James Grandy said "after only a few seconds inside the station, she observed it being driven out of the station's parking lot."

Mia, a black Yorkie Shih Tzu mix was inside the vehicle wearing a red sweater with the words "security" written on it.

“She takes the dog with her everywhere and it was in there waiting for her,” she said.

Grandy said the vehicle was left running with the keys inside the ignition.

The license plate of the black Honda SUV is 058-MBX in a 2010 Olympic style. Anyone with information is being asked to contact Oliver RCMP at 250-498-3422.

"Should you locate or observe this vehicle, please call 911 and do not approach," said Grandy.
