SOEC Redesigned

Back to the drawing board.

Due to public and stakeholder input, parts of the South Okanagan Events Centre (SOEC) have been redesigned.

Mayor Jake Kimberley says it will have no effect on the final cost of the SOEC.

“It was nothing that has any significance on the structural design or adds any cost to the facility. Some of the user groups, like the hockey, tennis and theatre groups, just wanted to advise what concessions they would like in their changing rooms, for example,” says Kimberley.

He says the redesign has been completed and was presented to the user groups at a meeting on Thursday night.

“The groups indicated to us at the meeting that they were satisfied the changes will accommodate their interests,” says Kimberley.

The new plans for the SOEC will be on display at Cherry Lane Mall from September 7-15. They can also be seen at the final open house on September 12 which takes place at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre from 2-8 pm.
