Work has started on a new residential housing complex in Penticton on the Warren Avenue Oxbow.
The privately-owned property is Penticton Indian Band locatee land.
The parcel is expected to contain 46 single-family homes according to developer, Warren Avenue Development Corporation, who noted final plans are still being ironed out.
Construction crews on site said they began work in September. The developer is hoping to have part of the housing complex completed by early spring.
According to a report from Penticton city staff earlier this year, the city will supply some services to the subdivision.
The report said the developer will be responsible for maintaining on-site infrastructure such as water, roads, sanitary and storm sewers, sidewalks, streetlights and other amenities.
The project has been in the works for years, with the City of Penticton signing its original agreement with the developer in 2011.
