The Penticton Fire Department believes they know the causes of Tuesday's two grass fires.
Chief Wayne Williams says they had different causes.
“The first one, on Ridgedale Street, it looks like some kids may have been playing in the area. The one on Fairview Road and Channel Parkway it appears a piece of equipment like a lawn mower may have started it,” says Williams.
Williams says that both fires were contained very quickly.
“With the first fire, with the assistance of neighbours and people in the area, it was nearly extinguished prior to our arrival. The only inconvenience to us was that they both started at almost the same time, they were still responding to the first one when the second call came in,” says Williams.
Williams says these fires go to show just how dry it is and reminds people to be careful.
