New Traffic Light In S'Land

Safety isn't cheap these days.

Municipal council in Summerland is considering adding a full traffic light
at a busy Trout Creek intersection. The light will cost about $80,000 which
would be split between the province and the municipality.

Currently, a traffic light exists at the intersection of Highway 97 and
Johnson Street, but it only changes when a pedestrian pushes the walk signal
button.

If the light is approved it would likely come out of the 2007 budget. There
have been at least two accidents at that intersection over the last two
years.
