The first annual Christmas Art Walk will take place next week in Penticton.

There will be seven art galleries open on the evening of Nov. 23 within walking distance of one another.

"We have downtown galleries all working together,” said Jessie Dunlop, an organizer of the event. “We’re all doing joint openings, the downtown is going to be really busy.

“It’s going to be a cultural crawl.”

The free event allows the community to tour the galleries and meet the artists.

The festival will take place the same night as the Tree Lighting Festival and the Christmas Open House on Main Street.

“We’re hoping the downtown is filled with people,” Dunlop said.

The art walk takes place Thursday from 5:00 p.m. 8:00 p.m.
