The season of giving

The Oliver Osoyoos Festival of Trees fundraiser will begin later this month, in support of the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.

Many communities across B.C. take part in the event.

This year Nk’Mip Cellars Winery, Watermark Beach Resort and Frank Venables Theatre will transform into festive forests.

“We are supporting the South Okanagan Children’s Charity otherwise known as the Sunshine Fund, and that fund helps families in need when they need to go to Vancouver for operation procedures,”  said Jennifer Busmann, executive director of the Oliver Osoyoos Winery Association. “It also helps with travel expenses, accommodation or should there be emergency surgery.”

The event will kickoff at the Frank Venables Theatre in Oliver on Nov. 26, and will feature a community Christmas concert.

Last year the event raised $5,000 towards clinical care, research and development, staff and family education programs, and the purchase of vital, lifesaving equipment.

The free family event is a great way to kickoff the Christmas season.

Everyone is encouraged to vote for their favourite tree; a minimum donation of $2 is requested.

Larger donations are eligible for tax receipts.
