Fall train a first for KVR

The public will be able to ride Summerland's Kettle Valley Rail Train in the fall for the first time ever, thanks to a pilot event taking place this month.

The KVR fall festive train will make two 90-minute trips on Saturday, Nov. 25 — at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

The event will be nestled in between the Festival of Lights on the evening of Nov. 24 and 'Light up the Vines' on the evening of Nov. 25.

Gerry Conrad, president of the KVR society, said a fall train has been advocated by the Summerland Chamber of Commerce for a couple years, prior to plans proceeding full-steam-ahead this season.

"Between Friday night's light up of the village and Saturday' night's light up of the vineyard, people are looking for stuff to do to make coming and staying in the village for the weekend an enjoyable event," Conrad said.

"This is the train contributing to the Chamber of Commerce to have a full menu of things you can do if you come to Summerland."

Tickets are needed for the fall festive train, and are available here.
