Travel Penticton has found a permanent home.
The group will be moving back into 888 Westminster Ave. W at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre, the same space it occupied before moving to where the casino sits today.
“It’s a great situation to have, we now have a collaborative home for Travel Penticton and the visitor centre, where we’ve been kind of split up for the last little bit — now we will be in one location,” executive director Thom Tischik said.
Travel Penticton previously approached the city will a pitch to build an entirely new building on the SOEC campus, but was rebuffed due to the possibility of a new arena being placed on the same spot.
At the time, council directed staff to find some other options for the group. They needed to move because the casino was requesting the space back for parking.
Tischik says they hope to move into the space in January.
He added that they are also developing plans for a second temporary and possibly mobile location for the summer season.
