Busy Weekend For RCMP

BC Day long weekend is historically a busy weekend for Penticton and the Penticton RCMP detachment.

This past long weekend was no exception with RCMP responding to approximately 70 calls for service per 12 hour shift.

On Friday and Saturday night, Penticton RCMP arrested approximately 40 persons each night for drunk and or causing a disturbance.

On Friday night, August 4th, 2006, 2 individuals in two separate incidents suffered lacerations after being hit in the head with a glass or a bottle while in Night Moves night club.

Early Saturday morning, August 5th, 2006, a 35 year old Penticton male was stabbed three times in the abdomen while in Night Moves night club. He was taken to Penticton Regional Hospital where he was treated for non life threatening injuries and released.

On Saturday night a male employee of The Element night club was struck in the back of the head with a glass or bottle. He was taken to Penticton Regional Hospital where he was treated and released.

Penticton RCMP continue their investigation into these incidents. On Sunday , August 6th, 2006, Penticton RCMP were kept busy at Skaha beach with approx. 3000 persons attending the beer gardens at the Mr. Muscle and Bikini contest.
