The smoke made it look worse than it really was.
Penticton Fire Department was on the scene quickly to douse a brush fire at a residence at 500 Guernsey Ave. Tuesday afternoon.
Fire Department Captain Fred Kraiger says the owners were sealing cracks in their driveway when a spark ignited a grove of junipers.
"Junipers, they go up fast. A little spark off the torch they're using to seal the cracks in the asphalt---a little bit of a spark touched on with the junipers," says Kraiger.
Kraiger says the house was never in jeopardy.
"There was a fair distance between the junipers and the house. Ten feet of pavement and another 10 feet of grass. The house was pretty safe,"
Kraiger says it turned out to be very minor, "but yea...there was a lot of smoke."
