Firefighters to fill their boots

Penticton fire crews will once again come together on Saturday to fill their boots with cash in support of Muscular Dystrophy Canada.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday there will be local firefighters collecting donations at Safeway and Walmart locations.

"Every little bit helps of course and we are just trying to do our part and get out there in the public and try to raise as much money as possible for muscular dystrophy," said Tyler Guy, Penticton firefighter. "I’ve been a part of it in previous years and I can’t remember our grand total from last year but I know it was a significant amount and I’m looking to match that or do better this year."

The event, Shaking the Boot is in support of, and raising funds to find a cure for Muscular Dystrophy. It is held annually and firefighters across the nation join forces to collect donations.

Funds collected help support research, education, services and equipment.
