Who slashed monks tires?

The tires that were slash on the Tibetan Monks' trailer.

It wasn't the way the Tibetan Monks had planned to start their visit to Penticton, after waking up to find someone had slashed the two tires on their cargo trailer overnight. 

The monks arrived in Penticton the evening of Tuesday, Sept. 12, making the city one of the stops on their North American "The Mystical Arts of Tibet" tour. 

"We got here this morning and they had three puncture wounds in the sides of each tire," said Paul Crawford, Director/Curator at Penticton Art Gallery. "Someone had taken a knife or something to them last night."

"It's a bit gutting and certainly not the way I wanted to start my day."  

Despite an unfortunate start to their visit in Penticton, the monks have showed forgiveness, according to Crawford and remain excited for the rest of the week. 

"They (the monks) have been very philosophical about it, as they are," he said.  

Thankfully, OK Tire in Penticton donated two new tires.

"We owe a great deal of gratitude to them for stepping up to do that," Crawford said. "A lot of people offered to help out financially, but they just offered the tires and that's amazing, I am very grateful."
