U.S. fire alarms residents

A small grass fire just south of the border alarmed residents of Anarchist Mountain, early Wednesday morning.

The fire originated as a structure fire at around 2 a.m., spreading to the surrounding grass south of the Caribou subdivision, according to a media release from the Anarchist Mountain Fire Department.

Anarchist fire crews monitored the fire from north of the border all morning while American crews contained it.

“By 6 a.m. they had the fire largely contained with a guard,” the news release reads “There is little if any water in that area so this morning water bombers are being used to suppress the fire and prevent a flare up.”

A Spokane-based TV station is reporting that the fire scorched 30 acres and completely destroyed the home where it originated. Everyone got out of the home uninjured.

“This small fire is a reminder that despite the cool, cloudy weather, there is still a very high risk of wildfire,” the Anarchist Mountain Fire Department stated.
