Too late.
A Penticton couple, given until 4 pm Tuesday to indicate to city council that they would stop illegally renting out homes, has missed the deadline.
Philip and Tracey Hare were told by council during a meeting on Monday that they had to agree to stop renting out three homes on Vancouver Avenue to out of town vacationers. The Hares have been renting out the homes against the city zoning bylaw as the buildings are located in a residential area.
City Clerk Cathy Ingram says they haven't given any indication they will comply with council.
“We have received no written or verbal notice from them,” says Ingram.
She says that the city's solicitor has been contacted to begin injunction procedures, which will force the Hares to stop renting the homes.
