The emergency room at the South Okanagan General Hospital will stay open Sunday.
Despite thinking they would have to temporarily close down the South Okanagan General Hospital emergency room in Oliver Sunday due to a doctor shortage, Interior Health will keep the ER open.
The hospital was expecting a doctor shortage Sunday that would require the emergency room to be closed from 3 p.m. Sunday to 8 a.m. Monday. Those requiring emergency medical help were asked to travel to Penticton.
“IH is pleased to report that shift has now been filled, which will allow the Emergency Department to remain open,” said Lannea Parfitt, Interior Health Communications.
IH says they regret any inconvenience the initial warning may have caused.
