NHLer helping local kids

Chicago Blackhawks defenseman and former Penticton resident Duncan Keith is partnering with the Child and Youth Development Centre to improve the lives of local children.

Keith’s charity, Keith Relief, is teaming up with OSNS for a three-year-project.

The donation has two facets. First, each year dedicated funds will help OSNS families that are in financial crisis in connection to the care of their children.

Second, each year a new outdoor project will enhance the facility for kids.

Ground will be broken on a surface “play court” on Aug. 17 at 11 a.m. Keith will be in attendance.

Then next spring, the "Duncan Keith Adventure Playground" will be constructed on the upper end of the facility.

“This project, planned in cooperation with physiotherapists at the centre will provide exciting new elements to help build strength, coordination and muscle tone,” a news release reads.

“Keith Relief” was created in 2011 to help families with financial and emotional burdens while dealing with medical crises.
