New look for Critteraid

The Critteraid Thrift Shop in Summerland has a new look.

The charity thrift store funds everything the organization does, including a cat sanctuary that cares for up to 60 felines at a time. The group is also restarting its dog house program, in an attempt to care for as many animals as possible in the Okanagan Valley.

“We have new management at the shop now,” animal director Jess Dyer said in front of the store on Victoria Rd.  “Our beautiful new signs are a sign of the times for a fresh start, because we have a lot of animals, especially with the fire evacuations and a lot of fosters right now.”

Byer said they are caring for about 10 evacuated critters right now.

“The fires are not going to stop anytime soon sadly, so that is going to be ongoing,” she said, adding many of the evacuated pets come with special needs.

The thrift shop is open Tuesday to Friday 12 - 4 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

They are always in need of volunteers or donations.
