That's a good price for a steam wheeler.
The Okanagan Antique and Classic Boat Society has made a donation of $1000 to the S.S. Sicamous Restoration Society.
OACBS President Robert Mellalieu says they are also hoping to extend an honourary membership to the Society.
“If they become members of the OACBS, then we can claim to have the biggest antique boat of all the antique boat societies in North America,” says Mellalieu.
He says he believes the money they donated is earmarked for bringing down a tugboat from Kelowna to join the Sicamous on Okanagan Lake.
“It took us about five years to raise that amount of money. There are only about 10 active members of our club, so this took a fair amount of effort on our part,” says Mellalieu.
The 17th Annual Antique Boat Show will be taking place next weekend on Okanagan Lake near the casino. Mellalieu says they are expecting about 30 boats to take part in the races.
