Princeton 50% contained

The wildfire near Princeton is 50 per cent contained as of Monday morning, a 10 per cent increase since Sunday.

The fire, which is holding at 3,300 hectares, brought in approximately 25 more firefighters overnight and one more helicopter to assist in battling the blaze.

"It's stayed at the same size, it hasn't grown at all," said Phane Ray, information officer.

Crews do not expect any problems and the recent drop in temperature is helpful, according to Ray.

"We don't anticipate too many issues, but again it's fire, it has a mind of its own," he said.

Evacuation orders and alerts remain in place, but the authorities have said they would likely be reviewing them early this week. Highway 5A also remains closed.
