More information has been released regarding the car crash that killed Penticton Pinnacles coach Kevin Hearne over the weekend.
Police in the Fraser Valley are investigating if alcohol was a factor in the crash. On Monday, Chilliwack RCMP revealed that Hearne was a passenger in an eastbound Pontiac 2000 that crashed about 300 meters east of the Peardonville overpass in Abbotsford just after 9 p.m.
The car was driven by a 44-year-old Chilliwack woman who was taken to hospital with minor injuries. Hearne was discovered upside down and was pronounced dead on the scene. It has not been revealed if he was wearing a seatbelt.
Police at the scene say they did not notice any skid marks on the road near the area where the car left the highway.
Hearne had been playing in a soccer tournament in Fort Langley with a group of friends. His death is considered a tragic loss in Penticton's soccer community. He would have turned 37 on Sunday.
