A man tried to elude RCMP after breaking into a Penticton home last week, but was quickly captured.
Mathew Toker, of Penticton, has been charged with one count of break and enter and possession of a controlled substance, after he broke into a unit on the 400 block of Young Street July 4.
A neighbour heard banging next door and knew the people who lived there were away, said RCMP Cpl. Don Wrigglesworth.
"Police attended immediately, noticed the front door was pried open, and found a male inside who attempted fleeing out the back patio door," he said. "After a struggle with police, he was taken into custody and had a number of items in his possession, one of which was a piggy bank."
