Talk about a roll of the dice.
According to the Penticton Western News, two large groups want to build casinos in the small city of Osoyoos.
Both the Osoyoos Indian Band and the Rocky Mountain Turf Club from Lethbridge, Alta. are putting together applications to submit to the B.C. Lottery Corporation.
The two groups are creating plans for two different styles of casino, and the mayor of Osoyoos is looking at the possibility of submitting both applications as a package.
The Rocky Mountain Turf Club was recently chosen to revitalize the Osoyoos Desert Park horse racing track.
On Saturday residents will take part in a referendum to vote if they are in favour of 100 slot machines going into Desert Park to help subsidize the horse racing, which is the focus of the revitalization project.
