North America's fifth largest bridge tournament is happening in Penticton this week.
The 32nd Penticton Regional Bridge Tournament will take place at the Convention Centre starting on Monday evening.
Event Chairperson Tony Ferguson says people come from all over the world to play cards in the Peach City.
“About 70% come from Alberta, BC, Washington and Idaho, the other 25% come from everywhere, Hawaii, England, Australia,” says Ferguson.
He says there are no prizes, other then advancing to the next round of play, but the players don't seem to mind.
“People don't travel from Australia for the fun of it, people are very competitive in the bridge world,” says Ferguson.
Ferguson says he expects about 1,000 people a day will be playing during the tournament.
