A fire broke out on the Penticton Indian Band's land on Saturday.
A house near the Revi Ridge Trail Park was completely destroyed by the blaze.
Indian Band Fire Chief Barry Phillip says there was no one in the house at the time.
“By the time we arrived the house was fully engulfed, there was really no way to save it. We just tried to save the houses around it,” says Phillip.
He says the house was at least 50 years old and the homeowner, Indian Band Fire Fighter Fred Kruger, had planned to have it demolished.
Phillip says he is pleased with the response of the fire department.
“We had a really good response, we had both our trucks up and a lot of guys show up,” says Phillip.
He says the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
