Healthy living fair kick off

Organizers of the Healthy Living Fair on March 11 at the Penticton Trade and Convention has announced their lineup of speakers.

They are as follows:

  • 9:15 a.m. Shea Emry, All-Star CFL Linebacker and mental health advocate.

After suffering a concussion which ended his football season in 2011, Emry found himself battling a depressive state he had known as an adolescent, having been the victim of childhood abuse. In response, he was inspired to use his platform to share his story and self-care practices with thousands of youth.

  • 10 a.m. Lisa Kilgour, Registered Holistic Nutritionist with Nature's Fare Markets.

Will speak about how healthy living and eating.

  • 11:30 a.m. Sandra Turnbull, registered dietitian with Interior Health.

She will discuss body kindness; a joyful way to transform your health described as “a radical paradigm shift” that helps people create a happier life from the inside out.

  • 1 p.m. Jen Annett, professional triathlete.

Will discuss living with epilepsy and overcoming life's hurdles, touching base on her own history with mental health.

  • 2:30 p.m. Emily Mayne, OASIS coordinator.

Will talk about questions seniors can ask their doctors and pharmacists about safe substance and medication use.

The Healthy Living Fair will kick off with society directors, dignitaries, exhibitors and volunteers taking part in a short welcome and ribbon cutting opening ceremony in the speaker area.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
