Festival of Trees on its way

Hope is coming to Osoyoos Oliver Wine Country this holiday season, with the Festival of Trees running Nov. 25 - Jan. 4.

Festival of Trees events run across B.C., transforming public spaces and hotel lobbies into festive forests.

Locally, four Oliver Osoyoos Wine Country locations will participate: Nk’Mip Cellars Winery, Watermark Beach Resort, Frank Venables Theatre Lobby and Baldy Mountain Resort.

“As a family-friendly community that also includes many hospitality workers, this is an event dear to all our hearts as it supports both BC Children’s Hospital and BC Hospitality Foundation,” said Jennifer Busmann, executive director of the Oliver Osoyoos Winery Association.

“Festival of Trees is a special part of our annual ‘Winter in Wine Country’ festival that heralds the start of the holidays here.”

Money raised will support the hospital's excellence in child health fund, which helps provide clinical care, research and development, staff and family education programs and lifesaving equipment for BC Children’s Hospital.

A silent auction held at Watermark Beach Resort throughout the festival will support the BC Hospitality Foundation.

The foundation provides last resort financial assistance for those within the hospitality community dealing with a financial crisis arising from a medical condition or injury.

Festival goers are invited to view the trees and donate to vote for their favourite.

Admission is free, but a $2 donation is suggested. Donations over $25 are eligible for tax receipts.
