Vehicle destroyed by fire

A utility panel truck parked in front of a residence north of Oliver was destroyed in a suspicious fire overnight.

Rob Graham, spokesman for the Oliver Fire Department, said the call about the vehicle fire on Gallagher Lake Frontage Road came in about 1:05 a.m. Thursday.

A firefighter who lives in the area initially used a garden hose to cool the exterior of the house, where the vehicle was parked.

When others arrived on scene, they knocked the fire down. The vehicle was already destroyed.

There were people in the home at the time, but no one was injured.

Graham said RCMP also responded to the scene, and the fire has been deemed suspicious.

The incident is now under investigation.
